Crowns
What Are Crowns?
Dental crowns, commonly known as "caps," are restorative dental treatments that cover the whole visible section of a broken or destroyed tooth. These tooth-shaped caps are custom-made to match the patient's natural tooth color, size, and shape. They are frequently prescribed for teeth that have been badly damaged or weakened as a result of decay, accident, or root canal therapy.
Crowns come in different materials, such as porcelain, ceramic, and metal - or a combination of these. The patient's unique demands and preferences will determine the material to use.
At Healthy Smiles, we offer a range of crown options, all of which are intended to match the color and form of your natural teeth, guaranteeing a smooth restoration that blends in with your smile.
How it works?
The process of getting a dental crown requires two visits to our dental office. During the first visit, one of our experienced dentists will examine the tooth and determine if a crown is necessary. The tooth will next be prepared by having a little portion of the enamel removed to create space for the crown. The next step is to make a custom-fitted crown by taking a scan of the prepped tooth.
A dental lab will build the crown after receiving the scan. To safeguard the prepared tooth in its place, the patient will be given a temporary crown to wear.
The temporary crown will be taken off during the second appointment, and the permanent crown will be affixed to the prepared tooth. Before putting the crown in place, the dentist will evaluate the fit and make the necessary adjustments. The end result is a restoration that resembles your natural tooth's feel and appearance.
Benefits Of Crowns
Dental crowns offer several benefits to patients, including:
Protection: Crowns are designed to protect and strengthen damaged or weakened teeth, reducing the risk of further decay or damage.
Preventing Tooth Loss: By strengthening damaged teeth, crowns can help avoid the need for more aggressive dental treatments, such as tooth extraction.
Improved Function: Crowns can improve the function of your teeth, allowing you to eat and speak with greater ease and comfort.
Aesthetic Improvement: The look of the patient's smile is enhanced with crowns that are manufactured specifically to match the color and form of their original teeth.
Durability: With careful maintenance, crowns can last for many years, offering a long-term treatment for damaged teeth.
Versatility: Crowns can be used to address a wide range of dental issues, such as fractured or chipped teeth, severe decaying, and malformed teeth.
